The health and safety of our community is a top priority of the Lindenlea Community Association. The spread of the COVID-19 virus poses challenges both globally and at the community and personal level. The LCA takes this issue very seriously. Our fitness programs are running safely and we continue to work with the guidelines set forth by the City and Province.

We continue to remind everyone to please stay home if you feel unwell and follow the recommendations of the Ottawa Public Health Agency to prevent infection.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer (please use the sanitizer available at the entrance of the LCA upon entering).
  • Face masks are required.
  • Stay home if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • If you have traveled outside of Canada within the past 14 days, please stay home.
  • If you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19 or if you are awaiting on test results, please stay home.
  • It is still recommended to get your flu shot if you haven’t already as the flu virus is still circulating in the community.

Letter from the lindenlea community association
Friends and Neighbours,

As Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, has advised, "The time is now to act" to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Every one of us has a role to play. Now is the time for kindness, compassion, honesty, good will, and above all, time to listen to the advice of our public health officials and doctors.

For those returning from travel, we are glad that you made it home safely. Please do your part to protect your family, friends and neighbours by ensuring you are not contributing to the spread of COVID-19. Remember that even if you don't have symptoms, you could still carry the virus and risk spreading it to others unknowingly. As advised by Ottawa Public Health and the Ontario Ministry of Health, stay home (do not leave your home or go to any public places) and avoid contact with others. Remember that self-isolating is not the same as social distancing.

For those of us social distancing, let's keep doing our part to stop the spread and flatten the curve. Even while social distancing, we can remember to check in regularly with our family and friends - technology has given us many options to stay in touch while physically keeping our distance. Keep encouraging and supporting our neighbours, maintaining appropriate distance while out walking or running essential errands, and continue to follow the advice of our public health officials and relevant government institutions.

We have many vulnerable people in our neighbourhood, those who are elderly, immunocompromised or with serious underlying conditions. Let's all do our part to keep everyone safe.

Please find below guidelines from Ottawa Public Health (www.ottawapublichealth.ca/) on self-isolation and social distancing. Additional information can be found at website for the Public Health Agency of Canada (www.canada.ca/coronavirus) and Ontario Ministry of Health (www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus).1)  Self-Isolation for Returning Travellers All  travellers returning to Canada (including from the United States of America) should:
  • Self-isolate – stay at home and avoid close contact with others, including those in their home, for a total of 14 days from the date of return to Canada
  • Monitor for symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty breathing for a total of 14 days.
  • Ensure they can easily separate themselves from others if they become ill.
  • Call Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744 or go to the COVID-19 assessment centre if they experience symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
2)  Social Distancing in Ottawa In order to decrease community transmission of COVID-19 in Ottawa, OPH is now recommending social distancing, for all residents of Ottawa. Social distancing measures include, but are not limited to:
  • Working from home where possible.
  • Avoiding sending children to daycare, if possible.
  • Avoiding visits to Long-Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes, Supportive Housing, Hospices and other congregate care settings unless the visit is essential.
  • Avoiding non-essential trips in the community.
  • If you have to go into the community for an essential trip via taxi or rideshare, be sure to keep the windows down.
  • Limiting or consider cancelling group gatherings, if possible.
  • Consider conducting essential meetings virtually instead of in person.
  • Whenever possible, spend time outside and in settings where people can maintain a 1-2 metre (3-6 feet) distance from each other.
