The Lindenlea Community Association continues to work with closely with our partner the City of Ottawa. All in person classes will follow government COVID regulations. This term we will offer a mix of some in person classes and some zoom classes.

 Adult Fitness Classes January 5th-February 27th

All-Access Pass: $264 (This gives you access to all our online and in person adult fitness classes for the session.
Please email and let me know what in person classes you wish to attend. Space is limited in those classes. 
Please note the price for taking three classes per session is $324.00 so the all access pass is the cheapest option if you plan to take more than two classes each week. 
You will receive a link to the online class meeting before the session begins.

Boost your energy and build strength in this well-rounded fitness class! We’ll combine heart-pumping cardio with muscle-toning strength exercises for a full-body workout, then finish with a relaxing stretch to improve flexibility and leave you feeling refreshed and accomplished.

Yin yoga: is a quiet contemplative practice. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. Posture ( asana) will held for longer periods of time than in other styles. All levels welcome - modifications will be provided

TAI CHI
Dr. Marna Zinatelli is a recently retired psychologist with a deep
passion for all things related to neuroplasticity. This passion fueled
her interest in Tai Chi and more (Chinese medicine, Qi Gong...). She has
studied under Lainy Yasuda at Kokoro Well-Being for over 15 years and
received training under Daisy Lee and Damo Mitchell. Join her in the
gentle, slow, restorative, and calming meditative movements of Tai Chi.

FLAMENCO DANCE CLASSES 
This class is a basic introduction to Flamenco dance
with live music. Dancers will need solid shoes with a bit
of a heel. If a heel doesn't work for you we can still make the class work. We will be working on technique and choreography. -

Drills and thrills in the company of friends. We will warm up to mobilize the joints and muscles for the first 15 minutes. Then be ready for strength exercises that engage the whole body. The focus is on alignment, posture, and core stabilization. We finish the class with gentle stretching and relaxation.

This program provides great mobility and posture and breath exercises based on the teachings of Hatha yoga. This class is good for all levels, providing stretches and strengthening exercises together with yoga breath work. All you need is a chair, a yoga block or book, and a yoga strap.

Pilates is a low impact exercise that creates optimal strength through muscle balance and fine-tuning neuromuscular patterns. It helps you move and breathe through your daily activities with more freedom and power and less pain. Benefits of Pilates: increases core strength; improves posture; decreases back pain: prevents injuries; increases energy: enhances body awareness; decreases stress; improves flexibility and mobility; improves balance; boosts your immunity; improves cognitive functioning

Barre fitness is a super-energizing, whole-body workout that’s great for everyone, from beginners to pros. Each class is meant to build alignment, strengthen your core, and tone and elongate muscles. Using a barre for balance this class will challenge you.

Balance & Stability  (In person)

This workout is designed to address the specific needs of older adults. We start with a walking warmup to increase the heart rate, including arm exercises to improve the range of upper-body movement. Using the dance barre for safety, we then practice balance positions interspersed with leg, core and upper-body strengthening exercises. The relaxed atmosphere of this class enables participants to discuss and ask questions about the exercises.

The focus is general conditioning and functional fitness. We’ll start with an extended cardiovascular warmup and move into mobility training for the muscles along the spine to prepare for a fusion of Pilates, and core strength endurance exercises.  We use a variety of breathing techniques and incorporate balance exercises. The class will finish with a stretch and relaxation for tranquility of the body and soul.

Find fun and freedom through dance! This contemporary dance technique class will include movements both similar to and opposite to ballet. If you have taken Pilates with me you have done some contemporary dance already! Each class will start by focusing on proper technique in basic movements to prevent injury as we build up to more expressive ones. We will explore both learning choreography and improvising. No experience required. Contemporary dance is best done in bare feet or in socks with a high cotton content (so they're not too slippery).

Breath & Sound Work for Wellness & Relaxation - Stay Tuned for Start Date! 
Anamda Sly is a retired community nurse with over 35 years of experience in Health Promotion, Yoga and Meditation. Her passion as a ‘Meditation, Breath Work and Sound Teacher’ is to share the power of ‘resonance’, allowing people to tap into their own unique breath and authentic voice using breath work tools and sound vibration. Your breath is ‘sound vibration’ allowing your body to heal itself naturally!
In this 6-week program you will learn/experience the ‘Power of your Breath’ and its many
benefits with simple breathing practices e.g. nasal breathing and abdominal breathing, etc. The pranayama (breathwork) sequences will also include some simple yoga warm-ups, sound healing tools e.g. powerful humming, voice toning, mantras and relaxation with a short meditation.

This class will start slowly and build in the middle to assist with further relaxation as we finish in savasana. It can be adapted to be more gentle or intermediate depending on the level and desires of the students. We will use traditional yoga asana and other gentle movement. There will be a focus on breathing, strength and flexibility. All levels welcome.

ARTS PROGRAMMING - ADULTS 
Artist Group - Free (In person) (we are running for the summer!)
We have some great talent in our community!  Do you create your art at home and miss the community support of fellow artists?  Or, are you toying with a project but just can't get it started?  Come join fellow artists for an informal 'work' session.  Coffee and tea will be provided, so bring some food incase you get hungry

Life Drawing  (in person) - Pausing for the Winter! Please contact Pamela if you are interested in joining in the spring
Painting and/or drawing the figure (not nude), no tuition,  three sessions same pose.   Bring your own easel, drop cloth, equipment and materials (no toxic mediums), (be compact).

TAE KWON DO  - (In person) World Federation Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that encompasses training the body and mind as one. Master Taylor Haas 5th Dan, has been teaching Grandmaster Tae Eun Lee Moo Kwang system in the Lindenlea community for over 30 years! Master Haas has a philosophy to teach the Art and Sport of Taekwondo in a fun and structured manner that is ideal for students of all ages!
Beginners may start at the age of 7 (Kids may start younger than the seven if an adult registers with them and if the instructor thinks they can hold their focus for the hour long session). Please contact for more information

A  co-operative playgroup for children aged 0 to 4 and their parents/caregivers. Bring your own snack and drink!

Cancellation policy - ​Eligibility: Participants can cancel their enrollment within one week (7 days) from the start date of classes or from the date of purchase.  Refund: A full refund minus administration fees of 7% will be issued if the cancellation request is made within this period. Procedure: To cancel, participants must submit a cancellation request via email or in writing 
Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days from the date of approval of the cancellation request. Pro-rated refunds will be given with a medical certificate should a refund be approved.
There are no refunds past the half way mark of the class. 
Cancellations by the LCC 
Unfortunately, some programs may be cancelled due to insufficient registration. In this case a full refund will be issued (with no admin fee) or you can opt for a credit. We make every effort to make decisions on these programs prior to the start date.
