The Lindenlea Community Association continues to work with closely with our partner the City of Ottawa. Due to a recent change in our status, and a return to a modified  phase two reopening, all of our fitness classes have been moved online to Zoom. We will notify participants when it is safe to return to class.

Winter Programs at the Lindenlea Community Centre
 
To keep everyone safe during this time, we will be running our classes online, offering a wide variety of programming to suit your fitness needs.  We appreciate everyone who has continued to support our community centre by attending our programs. While Tae Kwon Do students usually meet in person, due to the lockdown in Ontario, the classes will be offered on zoom only. All outdoor nordic walking classes have also been cancelled until further notice.

ADULT PROGRAMS
Classes run from January 4 to March 13
 
Online classes
One 10-week class – $110.00
 All-Access Pass – $300.00 (This gives you access to all our online adult fitness classes for the 10 weeks. You must register separately for Nordic walking when it runs again)
You will receive a link to your class meetings before the session begins.

Full-Body Strength with Weights (online) 
Feel your power! This full-body weight and resistance training workout using dumbbells will leave you feeling strong and energized. This class is aimed at people new to  or who have limited experience with weight-training.

Monday 9:00am–10:00am 

 Balance & Stability (Online only)  
This workout is designed to address the specific needs of older adults. We start with a walking warmup to increase the heart rate, including arm exercises to improve the range of upper-body movement. Using the dance barre for safety, we then practice balance positions interspersed with leg, core and upper-body strengthening exercises. The relaxed atmosphere of this class enables participants to discuss and ask questions about the exercises.

Tuesday Morning High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) (Online)  
Kick-start your day: this training technique focuses on quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by a short recovery period. This class is designed to introduce you to interval training and gradually build up your threshold to handle more intensity over time. Improve your cardiovascular health and muscle endurance – and have fun while you’re at it! Beginners welcome.

Friday 7:00am–7:50am 

 Find Your Groove (Online) 
Drills and thrills in the fresh air, in the company of friends. We will warm up to mobilize the joints and muscles for the first 15 minutes. Then, be ready for strength exercises that engage the whole body. The focus is on alignment, posture and core stabilization. We finish the class with gentle stretching and relaxation. In the event of inclement weather, this class will move indoors, with an option to attend online.

Rise & Shine Stretch (Online) 
Nina will guide you through a stretching program to keep you limber and strong. Each class concludes with an extended relaxation session. All levels are welcome

Hatha Yoga (Online)
This is a Hatha yoga class with a focus on breath, grounding poses, and deep relaxation.

Mobility & Mindfulness (Online)  
Improve your range of motion while paying attention to alignment and alleviate some everyday aches and pains. Through mindfulness we aim to decrease muscle tension and improve circulation with an introduction to breath work. Learn to turn off stress and worries, and deal with life’s challenges in a calmer manner.

Wednesday 7:30am–8:30am 

 Sculpt & Stretch (Online)  
Tone, sculpt and stretch every muscle in this workout using light hand-weights (2–3lbs). The workout is followed by stretching to increase flexibility.

Fitness Fusion (Online) 
The focus is general conditioning and functional fitness. We’ll start with an extended cardiovascular warmup and move into mobility training for the muscles along the spine to prepare for a fusion of Pilates, and core strength endurance exercises.  We use a variety of breathing techniques and incorporate balance exercises. The class will finish with a stretch and relaxation for tranquility of the body and soul.

 Butts & Guts (online) 
Fire up your glutes! Strengthening exercises build your abdominal muscles, glutes and enhance total body performance, and build strength and definition.

Build Core, Strength & Balance (Online) 
This class will focus on building endurance in the arms and legs. The workout begins with a 10-minute warmup followed by strength training. Equipment is provided, but please bring your own mat if you have one. In the event of inclement weather this class will move indoors and online.

Chair Yoga (Online) 
This program provides great mobility and posture and breath exercises based on the teachings of Hatha yoga. This class is good for all levels, providing stretches and strengthening exercises together with yoga breath work. All you need is a chair, a yoga block or book, and a yoga strap.

Nordic Walking/ Saturday Morning Tune-Up (Online) 
This class will start online and hopefully change to an outdoor Nordic Walking class at the end of the month if provincial restrictions are lifted. Space is limited for Nordic Walking so please let me know if you are interested in attending. 

Join Nina to start your weekend with this energizing class. Exercise with fun uplifting music  while you focus on a full body workout. This full body tuneup includes: HIIT, core strength training, balance training and muscular endurance, finishing with deep stretch and relaxation.  It will leave you feeling ready for the weekend!

5 CLASS FLEX PASS - ONLINE ONLY
This pass allows you to attend 5 of our online classes this summer. Please send an email to Lindenleacommunitycentre@gmail.com and let us know what classes you would like to attend.

Family Programming 

TAE KWON DO – World Tae Kwon Do Federation 
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that encompasses body and mind training. Master Taylor Haas (4th Dan), in affiliation with Grand Master Tae Eun Lee (9th Dan) School, has been teaching Moo Kwang Tae Kwon Do in the Lindenlea community for more than 20 years! Master Haas teaches the art and sport of Tae Kwon Do in a fun and structured manner ideal for students of all ages.
Classes will take place online for the month of January and in the Community Centre in reduced numbers with physical distancing when we are permitted to do so.

*Beginners may start at age 5, 4 1/2 if accompanied by a parent
Saturday 10am–11am – Beginner Family class (White–Green belts) 
Saturday 11am–12pm – Advanced Family class (Blue–Black belts)
Saturday 12pm–1pm – Adults only (White-Black Belts)
Wednesday 6pm–7pm – Advanced (Lower belts may join with instructor's approval)
 
Classes run January 6 to March 13
Cost: $100* Saturday class

*Does not include independent testing. 
 
 Monkey Rock Music 
Monkey Rock Music is a fun, entertaining and creative participatory music program for young children and their adult caregivers. Come and sing along with us! This class will take place via Zoom.
 
January 12 to March 9
