WINTER FAMILY FUN: NATURE GAMES, SKILLS AND LEARNING ENJOYED BY YOUNG & YOUNG-AT-HEART

It warmed our spirits to have so many people from the Lindenlea and Ottawa community join Brittany and Alister from Roots2Fruits on Saturday for a gorgeous afternoon of Nature games and learning!  The event was organized to support and promote Lindenlea's upcoming community Edible & Wildlife Gardens. Participants got a chance to go on a Nature walk and play some skill-building games in the beautiful, freshly-fallen, fluffy blanket of snow.  

Some of the highlights included:

• Using an animal tracking ruler to identify squirrel, fox, and deer tracks;
• Finding a mouse hole;
• Hearing the call of a Nuthatch and a Chickadee announcing the coming of spring
• Using all of our senses and hiding abilities to play camouflage
• and getting our vitamin C with a wild-harvested winter tea ("No Scurvy for Me!")

We closed the gathering by calling in Spring with a musical rainstorm. Although we're still very stoked about all of the amazing learning opportunities that Winter provides, we can't wait to see all of the magic that the next seasonal cycle will unfold!
