The Ottawa Food BankThanks to everyone who volunteered to help sort food at The Ottawa Food Bank. I have scheduled a time to do it again in the spring and will advertise closer to the date. We had a good time and learned a lot about who the food bank serves and how it operates. As you can imagine, demand for its services are increasing. They will soon be starting Food Drives for the Holidays. the shoebox project Lindenlea Community Centre is a drop off location for The Shoebox Project! Put together a shoebox full of gifts for a woman in need and drop it off at the centre between Nov. 16th and Dec. 6th. Follow this link to instructions about what to put in your box! http://www.shoeboxproject.com/make-a-shoebox.html
It warmed our spirits to have so many people from the Lindenlea and Ottawa community join Brittany and Alister from Roots2Fruits on Saturday for a gorgeous afternoon of Nature games and learning! The event was organized to support and promote Lindenlea's upcoming community Edible & Wildlife Gardens. Participants got a chance to go on a Nature walk and play some skill-building games in the beautiful, freshly-fallen, fluffy blanket of snow.
For Those who went on the nature walk...The snow was a bit too powdery and fresh for us to see many clear prints, so here are a few photos Alister and Brittany took the other day. Can you spot the tracks? |
